YAY!
I HAVE A BLOG NOW.
loads of thanks to xintian who helped me with the chimology html part :D
My first post :D
haha kept wanting to start a blog these few months to rant but now that I've gotten one I've forgotten what i wanted to rant about o.o
shall start with my blog name (:
trypanophobic-no-more.
partly inspired from xintian, yay :D
trypanophobia is "the extreme and irrational fear of medical procedures involving injections or hypodermic needles", according to wiki. which simply means scared of sharp, pokey things that make people go OWW ):
BUT!
(as you can see from my blog name)
im not trypanophobic anymore!!
hah. used to be so scared of injections. once even ran around the clinic trying to escape the doctor's needle -.-
now i'm not though :D
was cured by needles.
it's somehow like those people you read in the news or smth who have phobia of spiders and who gradually stop fearing them after coming in contact (slowly) with spiders. like firstly seeing photos, then looking at the real thing, then touching the spiders.
just that I wasn't so lucky to have so much time to get over my phobia, my cure happened after 3 and a half memorable hours.
(yay, this is the part where i get to start freaking y'all out)
3 and a half hours of allergy test!
which involved 104 injections and counting.
freaky? :D :D :D
i love freaking people out HAHA.
sorry to the people who've heard this story before, i just like retelling it over and over again.
so here goes:
once upon a time, there was a girl.
she was living happily and eating happily, until all of a sudden her left ear became partially deaf!
so she consulted her mum who deduced it was (hereditary) food allergy, then consulted the same doctor her mum went to.
her doctor advised her for a RAST test, which is a skin-pricking test involving intradermal injections of many many types of food, where then the nurse will measure the swellings and swellings bigger than the norm are counted as allergies.
so she went for it, picking out 62 types of food to be tested.
yay, she aced her test and got 42/62 -.-
they pricked her 62 times then retested the 42 positive allergies again to find the average or smth.
OW. that means she got a total of 62 + 42 = 104 injections D:
poor thing? )))):
somemore to cure the allergies (there's a cure) she has to inject herself daily now. some immunotherapy thingo where she will gradually build up immunity against these allergies, blahblah.
obviously you can guess who's the girl, if you can't by now you can officially claim yourself a noob :D
anyway. it's me, for those who can't guess properly.
I got poked 104 times. beat my record :D
so now I'm not scared of injections anymore (I think).
shall further freak you out, by listing my 42 allergies:

cow's milk, corn, malt, soy, baker's yeast, garlic, pepper, vanilla, sugarcane, rice, MSG, cabbage, coconut, ginger, onion, tomato, lettuce, cauliflower, stringbean, mushroom, pumpkin, celery, cai xin, mung bean (beansprout), barley, tea, cod, anchovy, shrimp, honeydew melon, date, watermelons, sesame, oyster, chilli, curry, cinnamon, peppermint, clove, peanut, brewer's yeast, chocolate
(20 foods) I'm not allergic to:
wheat, egg, carrot, potato, spinach, cucumber, green pea, pak choy, chicken, pork, beef, duck, salmon, sardine, scallop, banana, grape, papaya, honey
the ones in red are my biggest allergies D:
supposed to avoid them for at least one year.
malt's level 5, means its my biggest allergy that I have o.o
(i was eating lots of ovalteenies that week, hence my partial deafness)
the ones not in red are allergies, but less severe than the ones in red.
wanted to be strict with myself, but that means depriving myself of all the nice foods D:
like,
since I'm allergic to tomato but not to wheat,
if I'm strict with myself that means I'm only allowed to eat the spaghetti alone but not the tomato sauce -.-
and if I were to be strict to myself,
that would mean I would have to cut myself off from sugar.
cos sugar mainly comes from sugarcane, and I'm allergic to sugarcane -.-
bet if they tested salt on me I would be positive to it too -.-
but obviously I'm not that self-disciplined :D
so that means I'll still continue eating the not-so-severe allergy foods. and rice, cos it's nearly impossible not to eat rice -.-
stopped having rice for dinner but switched to potato, lol.
but I'll miss the school yongtaufoo stall's lor mee D:
have to totally cut off lor mee and spicy food now, cos of the soy sauce/chilli D:
can't eat chocolate too.
doesn't that make you go OMG! ):
almost gave in to temptation today, but in the end I managed to resist the tiny 1cm^3 of chocolate cake that Sookwei kindly waved in front of me -.-
chocolate cake to celebrate 3G's january-june babies (:
sponsored by mrs tan, as celebrations before our class CIP (which I didn't go)
it's gigantic, rectangle, brown and 100% CHOCOLATE.
nvm, bee hoon's the best (:
ate bee hoon, donated my slice of chocolate cake to somebody :D
dedicated a song to guides for 50 cents but never heard it play ._.
haha, nvm. $$ goes to needy mah.
did SMP SMP and more SMP while majority of the class went for CIP at marina barrage D:
realised I lost my BBYD play booklet!
tried hunting around in the life science lab but to no avail.
!!$#%^ tmr's LA essay test, and I don't have my BBYD play.
GG!
luckily michelle came along and saved me by offering to lend me hers :D
yay I love P2! <3
